Creative Commons means whatever uses it is also Creative Commons licensed unless it is Creative Commons 0 or like that. At least modern Creative Commons is like that former part. That means derivative works are like open source but not and derivatives of those same. You can't make money or entirely freely use Creative Commons stuff in like my opinion. That is why I basically open source like my blog.
Note that copyright is automatically present where Berne Convention is in force but may not stand in court so almost anywhere, if you say something tangibly made you have copyright. If something says copyright ask before using. If no notice is given, ask before using. Berne Convention is almost universal on Earth. If you really want to make things available, waive such rights. Creative Commons nearly does but you will give credit and it will be Creative Commons.
